2. Shunt DC motor

3. Series DC motor

4. Compound DC motor
The compound DC motor has two excitation windings: shunt and series. If the magnetic flux potential produced by series winding and shunt winding in the same direction of the magnetic flux potential called the compound excitation. If the two magnetic flux potential direction is opposite, it is called differential compound excitation.
